Instructions:
(1) Complete a separate Fair Debt Questionnaire for each debt collection company that is harassing you.
(2) Keep a collection communications log for every communication that you have with a debt collector – whether it is a telephone call, voicemail, email, letter, fax, etc.
(3) Keep detailed records of everything. For example, if you receive a telephone call, write down detailed information about the call in the collection communications log. If you get a voicemail, save it. If you have caller ID, take a picture of the caller ID screen when you receive a call. If you receive anything in the mail, save it and save the envelope. Do not throw anything away and do not delete any voicemail or email messages that you receive.
(4) Make notes in the collection communications log as to what the debt collector says to you, the amount demanded, any threats, foul language or harassment. Also make sure to note if the debt collector contacted anyone other than yourself.
(5) Give copies of the collection communications log to everyone the debt collector has contacted.
